Aquariology?
Aquariology is a highly demanding hobby. It seems so simple, just fill a tank with water, plants and some fish. But obviously, there is much more to it. In terms of the laws of nature an aquarium is not much different from the Amazon or one of the Great African Lakes. The same laws of nature apply to our tanks and a proper insight into the biological and chemical processes taking place in the aquarium is essential. I know of no other form of animal husbandry offering these challenges. However, this has also led many people disappointed or even quitting the hobby because of fish dying, plants not growing, or yet another algae outbreak.
It is not my intention to make a chemist or biologist out of you. With this site I will try to provide you some basic knowledge to guide you on your first steps towards becoming an aquariologist. And when the passion for fish really kicks in, I will take you far beyond the basics!
